Wigmore

In Spring 2024 we worked with 14 pupils from years 9 and 10 from Wigmore High School to explore a number of themes creatively over 6 sessions culminating in four podcast recordings.

The young people explored issues including;

  • Farmer’s mental health (a number of the group are from farming families and have loads of knowledge about the impact of farming on farmers)

  • Mental health and physical health (the importance for young men, in this case, to regularly exercise and workout and the positive impact it has on them mentally as well as physically.

  • Mental health discussion (Creating a space for young people to talk about their mental health, what keeps them well and the impact others have on them)

  • Mental health and class ( Young people discussing whether there is a difference in treatment and resources available to them for mental health support depending on their class)

This project is really important because lots of people struggle with their mental health and need to know more about it.

To me, good mental health looks like; happiness, less stress, being outside and farming
