Photography mentoring with Billie Charity

The P.O.V. Photographers exhibition is being showcased at Shepherds Parlour!

📍 9 High Town, Hay-on-Wye, Hereford HR3 5AE

📆 25th April - June 2025

The P.O.V. Photographers exhibition at Shepherds Parlour celebrates the creative work of rural young people who have been mentored by Hay-on-Wye photographer Billie Charity as part of Rural Media’s Point of View youth empowerment programme.

These talented young photographers ventured through Hay-on-Wye, Hereford, and Ross-on-Wye, capturing authentic portraits of the people they encountered along the way. Under Billie's guidance, they gained confidence to approach strangers and developed technical skills to compose compelling frames, and curate this exhibition.

Each image tells a story of connection - between photographer and subject, between rural youth and their wider communities, between artistic vision and personal growth.

Billie Charity is a portrait and reportage photographer. Her work has been widely exhibited throughout Wales and in London, and has regularly featured in the press.

She also runs photography workshops and mentors young people.

“Working with young talented people and watching their confidence and skills grow is the most rewarding part of my job”

Huge thanks to Shepherds for supporting the work of young rural creatives.
