Bromyard Tales

These creative artworks, bringing together audio and animation, were created and recorded with children and young people from the rural town of Bromyard - and every voice has a tale to tell.

To make the films, we worked with pupils from Queen Elizabeth High School, St Peter's Primary and Longlands Care Farm, having conversations about their lives, hobbies, loves and concerns. The audio recordings were made on location in Bromyard, and accompanying animations were created by children and young people who took part in workshops with the P.O.V. creative team.

Toni Cook, creative lead on the project, had multiple conversations with participants to build relationships and trust in order to explore and identify the content to be recorded. She said: "Bromyard Tales is an opportunity for children and young people to make a positive creative output and have their experiences heard and shared. It's been wonderful to hear from so many young people who have a lot to say. We are grateful to Hereford Diocese for funding this important work.”

The finished audio artworks were exhibited as part of Bromyard's Youth Art Trail in July 2026.

This work is funded by Hereford Diocese from their Safer Communities funding, and was a response to the P.O.V. Bromyard Voices research and recommendations published in 2025 that platformed the voices and views of 300+ young people growing up in and around the rural market town in Herefordshire.

Bonus episodes: More voices from St Peter’s Primary School

The audio artworks and animations from pupils at St Peter’s Primary School in Bromyard were so great, we’re sharing them all in this special playlist on YouTube. A huge thank you to all of the young people and grown ups who helped make Bromyard Tales possible.
