Title: What do they want for social services?

Release date: February 15th, 2022

Recorded at Rural Media Studio in 2021

Episode host: Jeremy. With P.O.V Creative Producer Toni Cook.

Episode guest: Debbie, Participation and Mentoring Officer, Herefordshire Council

In this episode 25-year-old Jeremy talks to us about what it’s been like to have social workers in his life since he was three years old. He’s joined by Debbie, who has been supporting him for more than 10 years.

“I was actually nervous at the time. I didn’t know what to say, didn’t know what to think: ‘who’s this woman, going to rock up into my house’. I said ‘she’s my social worker, calm it, calm it’.”

This episode was recorded at Rural Media’s Studio in Hereford in 2021, a few months after the Department for Education (DfE) served Herefordshire Council with an improvement notice for Children’s Services following a High Court judgement.

Jeremy, who is a Young Ambassador for young people with care experience in Herefordshire, chose the theme so he could share his hopes and ideas for improvements for the service in Herefordshire.
