What is the P.O.V. podcast?
The Point of View podcast, or P.O.V. podcast for short, is a series of conversations and interviews featuring incredible young people living in rural England. Each episode features a different host exploring a theme important to them and their lives.
Sade and Maz talk about what it’s like dating as a woman of colour in a (very) rural county. Harvey shares truths about drug and alcohol use. Rob asks if the Levelling Up agenda will do anything to keep young people in rural places. Lola discusses keeping young people safe from sexual violence.
There are 12 episodes in total, recorded over a few months in 2021. Episodes are published weekly - every Tuesday. Tap here to go straight to the episode guide.
The issues and experiences discussed in the podcast are mature and we ask everyone to take care when listening. Topics include: Drug use; County Lines; Violence including knife crime; Sexual assault; Pornography; Abuse; Neglect; Child Sexual Explotation; Racism.
The show is available on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and the Point of View website.
Who’s behind this series?
The P.O.V. podcast is produced by Rural Media, a media and digital arts charity founded 30 years ago by CEO Nic Millington (Registered Charity Number 1041335). Rural Media works directly with people and communities, including some of the most marginalised groups, to create content with social impact. We also operate a commercial production company, Rural Studios, with all profits going back into the charity to make sure that media and arts participation and production continues to improve lives and society.
The P.O.V. podcast is part of Rural Media’s 2020-2023 youth voice programme, Point of View, which is funded by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation. The programme seeks to empower rural young people to use their voice and share their stories in ways that will influence decision makers and inform change. As well as making podcasts, short films and putting on creative events, the diverse range of 14-25 year olds who are involved are picking up creative skills, growing in confidence, and gaining recognised qualitications.
If you’d like to interview anyone involved in the P.O.V. podcast or specific episodes, please contact Lauren Rogers at Rural Media on 01432 344039 / laurenr@ruralmedia.co.uk.
